VRMMO Summoner Hajimemashita Chapter 32 Released

Was busy with another project and ended up sick for a few weeks with bronchitis, so this release was delayed. I'm going to try to get another VRMMO release in before the end of the month to get back on schedule, but we'll see how that goes.

I would like to give Nanaseru a huge thanks for doing an amazing job on the translation check and editing for this chapter release. This chapter was a bit of a bear to translate in places so I'm glad to have it behind us.

A quick note about sequence "effect of hardening" jokes in the third section, credit goes to Nanaseru for catching the pun, and the TN (translator note) is from him. I don't want to steal his credit, since I just figured they were male enhancement jokes...

VRMMO Summoner Hajimemashita Chapter 31 Released

Thanks to Nanaseru for editing and TLC. It always helps to have a second pair of eyes! I've updated the chapter with the changes. And congratulations to Nanaseru for finishing his exams!

A few major misses on my part:

Was 30% remaining HP, not 3%. The kanji unit 割 apparently means units of 10% not simply %. Which makes a lot more sense in the story. So I'll have to go back an fix it on previous chapters as well.

It's not red trails of blood following Boparu. Rather, it's Boparu's red scarf (given to her by Ren-kun in ch26) that was trailing behind her. Ah but imagining scarf-like trails of blood flying behind her and slicking the ground as Boparu flew through the air and dive-bombed the snakes seemed so cool... but not particularly cute, I guess. Heh.

And some other minor corrections and improvements. So make sure you refresh the chapter page to get the changes.

VRMMO Summoner Hajimemashita Chapter 31 Released Haven't heard back from the editor so I'm going to go ahead and release the chapter. I can edit the chapter anytime, so if you guys see anything that needs fixing, let me know.

In this chapter we continue the battle against the train of monsters that Yuu caused in the previous chapter with his "Forest Marathon" plan.

Some quick notes about the upcoming release schedule: I'm going to be working on Chapter 32 concurrently with Chapter 2 of Little Horrors, so the next VRMMO release should be in about 2 weeks. The chapter of VRMMO after that is a side-story that is about 6 times the normal chapter size, so I haven't decided what to do with that yet. Unless someone else wants to tackle the side story, I'm thinking to maybe release it in parts as I have time.

Other options are that I could probably alternate between the side-story parts and normal chapter releases, or I could focus on plowing through the entire side story before resuming normal chapters, or I could skip it entirely, let me know what you guys prefer.

Maria-sama ga Miteru Volume 34 Chapter 2 Part 4

In this section we spend some more time with the youkai CHINAMI-san.

It was short so I knocked it out while I was waiting for VRMMO Summoner chapter 31 to be edited. That also means you guys can expect the next VRMMO Summoner chapter shortly. After that we'll probably see another section of Chapter 2 from Little Horrors since the next one is also short.

I almost had VRMMO out early for you guys this time, but I moved last week and spent most of the week off-line, so it didn't work out. Chapter 32 has less status tables (which translate rather quickly) than 31, so my expectation is that it will take the normal 2 weeks to translate.

As always let me know in the comments if you see any errors. Maria-sama ga Miteru Volume 34 Chapter 2 Part 3

Finally got it done and posted.

This chapter started out rather normal, but it's sure taking a turn for the weird in a hurry. There's been supernatural things that have popped up from time to time in the side stories of past volumes. Such as the time when one girl was trying to find another Lillian student she had met at the hospital, but was unable to find her until her until a later year, because the other girl hadn't become a student yet and hadn't yet gone to that hospital for her surgery (apparently they crossed through time to meet). And there was another one of a girl that died and it involved the angel accessory that she had given to her teacher before she died. But those were usually things that could be thought of as "miracles." This one however is looking like it might be heading in the direction of a ghost story... (which would fit with the title of the volume!)

Interestingly, the chapter title is spelled with Chinami's name written in katakana. So the title is actually referring to ghost(?) Chinami, and not student Chinami... well, you'll see what I mean after reading part 3.

Also of interest is the use of a first person perspective for this chapter. The author normally uses a third person omniscient point of view (and did so for chapter 1), so it's curious as to what significance that might have...

By the way, concerning this release and the near-term release schedule, there was a personal matter that ended up taking up about a week of my time, so this one ended up taking a bit longer than the expected two weeks, but things are back on track now, and so next chapter release for VRMMO Summoner should be in about 2 weeks from now (or maybe less if I really get on a roll). The next few parts of Maria-sama ga Miteru Vol. 34, Ch. 2 are short, so there's also a chance that I might just knock those out soon as well if I'm feeling motivated one night.

VRMMO Summoner Hajimemashita Chapter 30 Released

Chapter 30 of VRMMO Summoner is done. Thanks go to Nanaseru for volunteering his time to do some editing and a bit of quick translation checking.

There's a few changes to the style for the chapter. I didn't like the way Chapter 29 looked using English-style quotation marks (") so I've decided to keep the Japanese-style brackets instead. If they are showing up as boxes, make sure you have the Japanese system fonts installed for your operating system. If it's looking like it's a problem for too many readers, then I might consider going to [ ] brackets instead, so leave a comment if you have problems viewing the chapter text properly.

Also of note, while translating this chapter I noticed something about "Boparu" that made me go back and check chapter 4. First off, Boparu is referred to as "chan" so she's a she, and any times I've referred to her as "he" is a mistake on my part.

And, having re-read chapter 4, I'm beginning to think that her name is really supposed to be: "Vorpal".

When our main character's sister complains about the name, she describes the name as: "Head-hunting/decapitating rabbit" (首狩り兎).

So... I’m beginning to think that ボーパル (Boparu) is a phonetic misspelling of ヴォーパル (Vorpal), since both would be pronounced about the same in Japanese.

For background, Vorpal is a made-up English word (meaning “incredibly sharp, severing”) created and popularized by author Lewis Carol, but commonly used in older RPG settings to refer to weapons imbued with the ability to sever limbs or decapitate. Now when you ask what that has to do with a rabbit, my guess is that where the trip down this rabbit hole goes is this:

As to how a Japanese author is familiar with the infamous “Vorpal Bunny“ of Monty Python lore, I have no clue…

Maria-sama ga Miteru Volume 12 Chapter 4 Part 1

Just added Part 1 for Chapter 4 of Maria-sama ga Miteru Volume 12.

Only had a page and a bit left to finish part one, so I quickly knocked that out to get Part I out to you guys.

Also just a note, but there's probably not going to be much happening here for a few days after this, since I need to get the 2nd quarter taxes done and filed.

Maria-sama ga Miteru Volume 34 Chapter 2 Part 1 & Part 2

Here's a partial release for the first two parts (of seven) of Maria-sama ga Miteru Volume 34 Chapter 2.

This chapter is a side-story that introduces us to some new characters. I read ahead a little, and we'll be returning to the story with Nana and the others in Chapter 3. From the chapter titles, it's likely that each chapter alternates between the main story and the side-stories.

Part 3 will take a while since it's a fair bit longer, but the rest are shorter so it'll go faster once Part 3 is out of the way.

I'm Rydenius, a fledgling (JPLT N4 certified) translator.

I was posting at Baka-Tsuki for a while (before going inactive). I'm back to translating and finally got around to setting up my own blog for hosting my translations.
