About Me

I'm Rydenius, a JLPT N4 certified translator.

I am currently working on translating to English various untranslated Japanese light-novel and web-novel series that I want to read. The goal is to improve my translation speed and improve my skills. My native language is English, so hopefully the quality will be good, even if I'm a bit slow.

Depending on the series and the amount of time I can spend on translating, my goal will be to release a chapter every 2 weeks, so please don't expect amazing speed. Note that allowing the ads and donating to the cause will help me to be able to focus more on translating.

If someone wants to take over or help with translating a particular series, let me know. The faster it gets translated, the sooner you and I can read it.

The tools that I use for translation are:
  • OmegaT - a translation memory tool
  • OneNote - for OCR (Best OCR for vertical Japanese that I've found)
  • Jisho.org - online dictionary
  • Weblio - online dictionary/machine translation
  • Alc - online dictionary
  • Various textbook and grammar resources
(I'm always open to checking out new tools if others have suggestions that will improve workflow and results.)

I have a repetition and meme-based Japanese language training tool that I'm developing on the back-burner and may make available in the future. So I'll post an update on that if there's any newsworthy progress.

BTW, since I'm already participating at Baka-Tsuki for the series Maria-sama ga miteru (マリア様がみてる), the translations that I complete for that series will also be cross-posted at Baka-Tsuki. (I've been a bit missing in action for a while, but I'm back...I think.)

In any case, thanks for the page views, and enjoy the translations.
