Maria-sama ga Miteru (マリア様がみてる) is a slice-of-life genre Japanese light-novel series that tells the story of the relatively middle-class Yumi Fukuzawa and the people around her as she gets pressed into student council life at a turn of the century private Catholic ladder school for well-to-do girls.
This series is currently being translated at Baka-Tsuki and you can read up more about it and start reading the series there. There are 37 volumes, much of which has been translated, and a spin off series focusing on Yumi's brother, which is not being translated (let me know if that changes).
